To anyone who’s ever left a can of Diet Coke in the freezer, this is an uh-huh moment: Diet Coke makes a pretty good slushy (if the can doesn’t explode).
Today, Coca-Cola rolled out its first frozen product in the 31-year history of its Diet Coke brand: Diet Coke Frost.
As the name implies, Diet Coke Frost is a low-calorie frozen carbonated beverage. The initial icy introduction actually uses Diet Coke’s cherry-flavored variation. It’s being introduced nationwide via 7-Eleven stores as a Slurpee flavor. A 20-ounce serving contains 30 calories and 12 grams of carbohydrates.
As the weather warms up nationwide, Diet Coke Frost will expand its availability in May to other retailers across the country. But right now, 7-Eleven has it exclusively. The chain also is offering a coupon for a free small serving of Diet Coke Frost — but you need to download the 7-Eleven app.

Why Diet Coke Frost? Diet Coke (the unfrozen variety) ranks as the No. 2 most popular beverage in the United States. Offering a frosty version is a natural extension of the brand, say Coca-Cola officials. By summer, Diet Coke Frost also will be available in frozen carbonated beverage machines at several other retailers.
