Sacramento bars savor Negroni Week

Ah yes, the negroni, one of the most classic of cocktails. Its ingredients are but a few - gin, vermouth, Campari and garnished with a bit of orange peel - yet the drink can take on all kinds of twists. Perhaps it’s been barrel aged, like a version poured at Hook & Ladder (pictured above). Or, perhaps it comes bottled with a touch of spritz like the one featured at The Golden Bear.

There are a few of the cocktails you can find around town as Sacramento participates in national Negroni Week, which kicked off Monday and lasts through Sunday. This cocktail celebration not only places a spotlight on one of the classics, but also helps raise money for charity. In Sacramento’s case, proceeds from these negronis will benefit the California Food Literacy Center, one of Sacramento’s leading outposts for promoting healthy eating habits.
