Coffee-loving Sacramentans have one more place to enjoy their java. An Insight coffee store recently opened in the Pavilions center, joining two other Insights in our area.

The baristas are knowledgeable and the airy (though sparsely decorated) space is handsome, with a beautiful redwood coffee bar. The coffee drinks are excellent, especially the cafe mocha. The menu of seven “edibles” includes granola and fruit, with pastries and doughnuts from Yellowbill bakery and Doughbot.

“The (food) menu is pretty close to what it will be in the long term, but we’re still dialing it in,” said spokesman Matt Gale. “Our core business is making great coffee. We’re going to do cuppings (serious, evaluative tastings) twice a week, and less formal tastings, as well.”

One nice touch is the Tasting Notes cards that customers can fill out while they’re enjoying a cuppa.

The store is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily; (916) 370-7582 www.insightcoffee.com. The other Insights are at 1901 8th St. and 1014 10th St. in downtown Sacramento. Pavilions is along Fair Oaks Boulevard, near Howe Avenue.
