A taste of Sacramento beer will now be easier to find around California and beyond. Rubicon Brewing Company, a stalwart of Sacramento’s microbrewery movement, has partnered with DBI Beverage Sacramento. DBI is a major distributor of beers, with a portfolio that includes Heineken USA and major brands under the MillerCoors umbrella. DBI also distributes such craft beer favorites as Russian River Brewing, Dogfish Head, Bear Republic and Lost Coast.
The partnership allows Rubicon to be distributed throughout California, and a variety of western states including Arizona. Crispin Cider of Colfax is the only other brand in the greater Sacramento area to have distribution through DBI.
The move comes about a year after Rubicon opened a brewing facility in West Sacramento. With a production capability of 4,000 barrels annually, Rubicon can now craft three times more beer than its original midtown operations, which launched in 1987.
“Our company is extremely happy about this relationship, and we will take Rubicon to the next level,” said John Janosko, vice president and general manager of DBI Sacramento, in a statement.
Along with being sold at Raley Field, Rubicon beers will now be featured at all future matches of the Sacramento Republic FC at Bonney Field. That debut starts on Saturday with Sacramento Republic FC’s final home season game. That match also doubles as “Farm-to-Fork Night” which includes locally sourced beef for burgers and a food drive for the Sacramento Food Bank. Craft beers from Ruhstaller, New Helevetia, 21st Amendment and others will also be on tap.
