We’re always on the lookout for outstanding fried chicken. Isn’t everyone? Over the past months, we’ve scored big-time at several restaurants, including Evan’s Kitchen, Tori’s Place, Chef’s Table and Hawks.
Last night, we dropped by Takieng to sample Thai food, opened a menu, looked under “House Specialties” and saw this entry: “Bangkok Fried Chicken: Thai-style fried chicken comes with steamed vegetables, served with sweet & sour sauce...$11.95.”
After a plate of delicate potstickers with garlic-ginger sauce (almost like Japanese gyoza), our half-chicken arrived, cut into four pieces. It had all the requirements: It was hot, crisp, tender and juicy, helped along with the best sweet ‘n’ sour sauce we’ve tasted, and a companion fiery sauce. We ordered more sweet ‘n’ sour sauce and mixed it with jasmine rice. Oh, and threw in spoonfuls of red chile paste.
