It's been about a decade in the making, but the date has been set: Real Pie Company is ready to open in its new location.
In a Facebook post Tuesday, the company announced that it will hold a "soft" opening Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Real Pie Company's website lists April 12 as the official opening date. The shop is located at 2425 24th St., Suite A, near Broadway and across the street from McDonald's and the Department of Motor Vehicles building.
Customers are encouraged to attend Sunday's soft opening, but some patience is requested.
"We would love to see you this Sunday if you happen to be in the neighborhood," the Facebook post reads. "... Please know that our wonderful staff members are VERY new to their positions and we all will be practicing and learning as we go. This may require some patience and understanding from our customers!"
The company, run by pie maker Kira O'Donnell Babich, will have its first permanent location since 2008, when the business was at 12th and F streets in Sacramento.
The Facebook post gives a nod to those who have helped make the opening happen. "I'd like to say a very special 'thank you' to a dedicated group of friends and family who have volunteered countless hours over the past few weeks to help us get up and running."
In a previous story, O'Donnell Babich told The Bee that Real Pie Company will have a temperature-controlled dough room in the new shop, as well as limited indoor and outdoor seating and a selection of locally made ice cream.
