Just thinking about the annual paean to consumerism that is Black Friday makes Wine Buzz want to hide from the frenzied crowds and curl up with a good glass of grape. But hey, why not combine some holiday shopping with an excuse to hit local wine country?

If that sounds like a better plan than standing in an epic line at the mall, head up to Amador County for a host of wine-related events. The view this time of the year can’t be beat, and you can pick up some bottles as presents for the wine lover on your gift list.

Andis Winery (11000 Shenandoah Road, Plymouth) is the perfect place to start on Friday. The winery will be celebrating its third anniversary and sharing appetizers along with wine discounts and special selections from their cellar. Winemaker Mark McKenna and crew have helped established Andis as one of Amador’s leading wineries with top-notch expressions of semillion, zinfandel, barbera and other varietals. The celebrations run 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday. (209) 245-6177, www.andiswines.com

Speaking of acclaimed Amador wineries, Terre Rouge/Easton (10801 Dickson Road, Plymouth) will be holding its annual Black Friday tasting of Ascent syrah from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The $15 event also includes samples of other Terre Rogue/Easton wines. Note that its Easton 2010 Zinfandel Amador County made Wine Spectator’s list of 100 outstanding values of 2012. The Easton 2011 Zinfandel Amador County has also received high marks from Wine Spectator, earning 90 points and named in the magazine’s March list of “12 outstanding California wines.” (209) 245-4277, www.terrerougewines.com

Also awaiting your palate and pocketbook this Black Friday in Amador:

Vino Noceto, the signature sangiovese producer (11011 Shenandoah Road, Plymouth), will offer special holiday savings Friday and extended hours. Bottles will be marked down as much as 50 percent from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., and 30 percent off from 10 a.m. to noon. Vino Noceto will also debut the latest release of its OGP zinfandel as part of a six-vintage flight for $10. (209) 245-6556, www.noceto.com

Amador Foothill Winery (12500 Steiner Road, Plymouth) will pay tribute Friday and Saturday to Lena Esola, a cherished Amador grape grower who passed away recently. Zinfandel sourced from Esola’s vineyards will be poured for free, including 2001 vintage zinfandel. This vertical tasting will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
