Furlough tussles between Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and various interests are keeping the courts and a legion of lawyers busy.

Legal fistfights have broken out from Hawaii to Maryland over public employee furloughs, but no place slugs it out like California.
Three hundred attorneys from the Sacramento County District Attorney's and Public Defender's offices will be staying home today because of the state's budget woes.
State agencies run by independently elected officials so far have weathered budget cuts Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger imposed on them this year without furloughs or significant staff cuts.
