The Cannery, California’s first farm-to-table new home community in the heart of Davis, is calling all runners. On April 23 The Cannery will host runners of all ages and skills in the first Can Run, a 5K, 10K & Kids Fun Run around “The Nationals” 2016 Master-Planned Community of the Year.
The Can Run will start and finish at The Cannery, passing by acres of urban farm land and community buildings including The Farm House, The Barn and The Ranch House. The 5K and 10K course will traverse the neighborhood streets of north Davis, past the coveted Community Park, Davis Little League fields, North Davis Elementary and Davis High Schools, and along The Cannery Loop Trail. The 10K course also includes the greenbelts and neighborhood streets of Northstar in Davis.
Proceeds from The Can Run will benefit the Davis Schools Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to educational excellence for all K-12 students in the Davis Joint Unified School District since 2004.
“The Cannery was designed with healthy and sustainable living in mind, so The Can Run is a natural fit for the community,” said Kevin Carson, Northern California President for New Home. “The response to The Cannery from those in Davis, as well as the greater Northern California region, has been overwhelmingly positive, so we are thrilled to present an event that will benefit the local public schools that are so vital to the desirability of the city.”
The Cannery is an innovative mixed-used community, developed by New Home and designed with a seven-acre Urban Farm on the former Hunt-Wesson tomato cannery facility near the center of downtown Davis.
The Cannery offers a rare opportunity to live in a way like never before. In addition to residences, The Cannery showcases numerous community amenities including a recreational center called The Ranch House, The Farm House Welcome Center, 2.5-mile loop trail, and the Urban Farm. In the future residences will also be able to enjoy retail shops called The Cannery Village and The Cannery Amphitheatre coming soon.
Visitors now have the opportunity to tour 17 model homes within The Cannery’s initial five residential neighborhoods, where sales are now underway and demand is strong. Prices range from the mid-$400,000s to the low $1 millions.
