After a simmering September and a toasty start to October, it feels like fall has arrived.

The National Weather Service reported the high temperature reached 80 on Thursday, which means the red and gold leaves of autumn are just around the corner for the "city of trees."

The change of seasons has grudgingly arrived after a record number of 90-degree-plus days in September. The first three days of October registered high temperatures of 100, 100 and 97, respectively.
