Rancho Cordova-based medical equipment firm ThermoGenesis Corp. reported a loss of $563,000, or 3 cents a share, in its fiscal second quarter ended Dec. 31.

That was an improvement from a loss of $1.3 million, or 8 cents a share, in the year-ago period.

ThermoGenesis said quarterly revenue was $4.8 million, slightly better than about $4.7 million in the same quarter of 2011.

Over the past year, ThermoGenesis has been selling off some product lines in order to concentrate on its cord blood and bone marrow stem cell processing/storage business.
