Job postings show year-over-year gains

Sacramento and California saw year-over-year gains in job vacancies advertised online in October, according to the latest statistics released by the Conference Board.
The board said there were 27,200 ads posted in Sacramento in October, matching September, but up 21.4 percent from 22,400 in October last year. Statewide, there were 530,600 ads in October, up slightly from 529,400 in September and a substantial improvement over 457,100 in October 2011.
Jobs advertised online nationwide fell 77,800 from September to October, to 4,735,600.
Sacramento remains second nationwide in the number of unemployed per advertised job vacancy, with a 4.09-to-1 ratio. That trails only Riverside's 7.48-to-1. The national rate is 2.51-to-1.
