More job vacancies advertised online

Sacramento and California saw significant year-over-year gains in job vacancies advertised online in January, according to the latest statistics released by the Conference Board.

The board said 31,000 ads were posted in Sacramento in January, up from 30,400 in December and 24,700 in January 2011.

Sacramento remains second nationwide in the number of unemployed people per advertised job vacancy, with a 3.79-to-1 ratio. That trails only Riverside's 6.86-to-1 figure. The national rate is 2.47-to-1.

Statewide, there were 565,100 ads in January, up from 555,100 in December and 490,100 in January 2012.
