Sacramento County sheriff's deputies have arrested a 33-year-old Rancho Cordova woman on suspicion of drowning her infant in the toilet after giving birth, sheriff's officials said.
Kristen Gibson was arrested today after a coroner's report and sheriff's investigation led officials to believe Gibson had intentionally killed her child on July 9 in her home on the 10400 block of Mills Tower Drive, according to a press release.
"After forensic analysis and investigation by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office, it was determined that the full term 8-pound baby boy was born alive and intentionally drowned in the toilet after the suspect severed the umbilical cord," the release said.
Gibson is being without bail in the Sacramento County main jail.
