Sacramento area schools get construction funding

Sacramento area schools have received a nearly $27 million chunk of state funding for construction and modernization projects, the state Department of Education announced.

The State Allocation Board approved more than $435 million for construction and modernization of 115 schools, including 18 schools in the Sacramento region, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell announced Wednesday.

The State Allocation Board, of which O'Connell is a member, is the policy-level body for programs administered by the Office of Public Schools Construction. The board is tasked with determining how state funding, such as general obligation bond issues and other designated state money, is spent, states a news release from the Department of Education.

All told, more than $340 million was allocated for new construction projects, more than $95 million for modernization projects, nearly $19 million for emergency repair projects, more than $211 million for career technical education projects and about $50 million for portable classroom replacement projects.

The following is a list of schools in the Sacramento region that received funding for construction and modernization projects. The list includes county, school district, school and state apportionment.
