The Real McCoy ferry to scheduled to return to service Sunday on the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta.
The 63-year-old ferry returns after six weeks in dry dock for repairs. The work at a San Francisco dry-dock facility is scheduled to be finished this week, according to a news release from the California Department of Transportation.
It carries farmers and tourists across a short stretch of water between State Route 84 in Rio Vista and Ryer Island in Solano County.
Caltrans said it was the first dry dock service in eight years for the ferry, whose twin six-cylinder service engines sprung leaks and its hulls were dented from bumping into docks.
After the Real McCoy returns, Caltrans will perform a seven-day test run with full service on the barge.
Caltrans had indicated that the plan will be to pull the J. Mack cable ferry, which is also known as the Steamboat Slough ferry, for fixes.
The J. Mack operates on Highway 220 between Ryer Island and Grand Island.
