Sacramento County Sheriff's detectives are investigating two killings in separate incidents early Saturday morning.
In one of the killings, a 22-year-old man died of stab wounds after an altercation in Gold River at a home in the 11800 block of Prospect Hill Drive about 4:15 a.m. A resident of the home, Daniel Ortega, 32, was arrested on suspicion of homicide.
The victim, who has not been identified pending notification of family, came to the house and began arguing with Ortega, according to Sacramento Sheriff's Capt. Scott Jones. When deputies arrived they found the man lying in the street and Ortega standing nearby, according to a press release. Ortega lives at the house with his wife, Jones said.
In the other incident, deputies were trying to piece together exactly where the homicide occurred. Deputies were looking into the case of an unrelated stabbing victim at the UC Davis Medical Center early Saturday when a woman arrived with a gunshot wound.
She later died and detectives are working the case, Jones said. They are questioning a man who arrived with the woman.
