A Caltrans open house to discuss a $58 million project for Highway 16 in Yolo County is scheduled today.
The project is designed to reduce the number of vehicles running off the road and rear-end accidents on Highway 16 between the town of Brooks and Interstate 505.
The project includes new road shoulders, turning pockets, curve improvements, better flood protection for the highway in the Madison area and signal installation at County Road 89 and State Route 16.
The open house, from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today, will be at the Esparto Community Hall, 17020 Yolo Ave. in Esparto.
Highway 16 leads to Cache Creek Casino through the bucolic Capay Valley. Cache Creek Casino Resort is located at 14455 Highway 16 in Brooks.
