Youth Fest, a free event organized and led by El Dorado County youths, will be held July 26 on Placerville's historic Main Street.
The festival, scheduled from 2 to 7 p.m., is geared to youths 12 to 18 years old and their families. It will feature live entertainment, a variety of activities and exhibits.
Billed as an alcohol, tobacco and drug-free event, it aims to provide young people with information on a variety of topics and opportunities, including health, jobs and careers, vocational training, youth-friendly businesses and the Armed Forces.
"Last year's Youth Fest was very successful, and we hope the youth in the community come out to participate this year," Jeanette Phillips (CQCL), health and education coordinator for the county's' alcohol and drug programs, said in a news release.
The event is presented in partnership with the Placerville Downtown Association, El Dorado County Youth Commission, El Dorado County Health Services Department and the University of California Cooperative Extension.
