Shopping for answers: L'Oréal' cream is not sold separately

Published: Friday, Oct. 10, 2008 - 12:00 am | Page 3K

DEAR SHOPPING: I use the L'Oréal Dream Blonde hair color and love the tube of Continuous Shine Cream that's included. I would like to purchase more of this product because the small tube doesn't last very long. Do you know if it's possible to get the product outside the box of hair color?

– Kristin, Sacramento

DEAR KRISTIN: I contacted the L'Oréal consumer hotline and was told that the cream is not available as a stand-alone product. The closest equivalent for the product is the Shine Seeker spray in the L'Oréal Studio line. The rep I spoke with says she'll pass along the idea to the corporate folks about making the shine cream available separately.

DEAR READERS: There were several replies to last week's column about nail fungus, two of which offered new ideas:

From David in Sacramento: I read your reply to Jim and wanted to mention that there is a new laser treatment advertised that looks interesting because it is noninvasive and nonchemical.

From Toni in Redding: I also struggled with nail fungus. My cousin told me that her husband was treated by a doctor who had him apply Vicks VapoRub to his feet and nails. It worked! I used various over-the-counter treatments prescribed by my physician with no success, but this did the trick. Yes, it took almost a year of daily or more treatments until the nail grew out, but the fungus was gone.
