The sun is not shining, it's too wet to play. But you don't have to sit inside all this cold, cold wet day.
Fairytale Town is celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and holding storytelling performances featuring some of the beloved stories and Seuss-inspired activities, according to information on its Web site.
Today is the National Education Association's Read Across America day, an annual reading celebration held on or near Seuss' birthday.
The event today launches a two-week book drive at the children's park. Families that bring a new book to Fairytale Town will receive one free child ticket with a paid adult admission. The books will be donated to Woodbine Elementary School in Sacramento.
The event ends March 16.
