Benjamin Wade plays the trumpet on Inspiration Point overlooking the town of Susanville. The town was in miserable shape in 2003 when the Music Man came to town and did the impossible, he created a symphony orchestra. The last lumber mill was closing and nearly all that was left were three grim state prisons and the staff to manage them. But Wade, a swashbuckling bachelor and Survivor contestant who coached the womensâ soccer team at the local junior college, had a dream: he wanted to conduct and compose his own music.
