FILE--The Banana Republic chain has begun pulling its ads featuring Colorado Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell after an environmentalist upset with his voting record threatened to organize a boycott. Campbell is shown in this undated file photo. The ads feature the pony-tailed Republican modeling Banana Republic clothes. Alton Dillard, Campbell's spokesman, said officials with The Gap, Banana Republic's parent company, told the senator last week about the boycott threat, but didn't say what they would do. The Denver Post reported that 5-foot-tall signs featuring Campbell were not displayed at Banana Republic stores in Washington. The boycott was the idea of Jonathan Turley, a law professor and environmental activist at George Washington University in Washington. He wrote to the company about Campbell's "extremist" environmental views.(AP photo/John Duricka) AP

SECOND Tower Records founder Russ Solomon was on hand Thursday, March 12, 2009 as the 30-foot neon sign above the first Tower Records store on Watt Avenue came down this morning. The sign will be donated to the Sacramento History Museum and eventually will hang in a rock 'n roll exhibit at the museum.
The iconic site, across El Camino Avenue from Country Club Plaza, is where Solomon opened his first free-standing music store in 1960, the so-called Tower North. It launched an empire that by the mid-1990s included more than 200 locations worldwide, from New York to London to Tokyo. Thursday, march 12, 2009. email@example.com
