Conquer fear of public speaking
Merced College’s Workplace Learning Resource Center will offer a short-term course on “Successful Business Speaking” from 8a.m. to noon, Nov.7 and Nov.14, at the Business Resource Center, 630 W. 19th St. in downtown Merced. The course will cover how to overcome the fear of speaking in front of groups, how to put together a brief presentation, how to get and keep the audience’s attention, and other tips and techniques to help improve presentation skills. Sign up for Livingston parade, fair
The city of Livingston will hold its annual “Lighted Christmas Parade” and gift fair at 5p.m Dec.6 at Memorial Park on Main Street and D Street. The gift fair will begin at 5p.m. and the parade will begin at 7:30. Activities will include Christmas caroling in the streets. Vendor space is available for $25 per booth; vendor deadline is Nov.21. Schedule set for holiday trains
Roaring Camp Railroads will hold its “Holiday Tree Walk” on Nov.29 and 30, and Dec.1, 7, 8, 14 and 15. ‘Trunk-or-Treat’ from car to car
The Boys and Girls Club is sponsoring the annual “Halloween Trunk-or-Treat and Haunted House” from 6p.m. to 9p.m. Thursday at the Boys and Girls Club, 615 W. 15th St., Merced. This event includes a haunted house, carnival games, arts and crafts, face painting and more. In “Trunk-or-treating,” adults and volunteers decorate the trunks of their vehicles so children can go trick-or-treating from car to car. The cost is $1 for kids age 3 and older. The Merced chapter of Parents, Families, Friends of Lesbians and Gays will meet at 7:00p.m. Nov.12 in the Fireside Room of the United Methodist Church of Merced, 899 Yosemite Park Way.
