Elks golf tournament
The Merced Elks Lodge charity golf tournament begins at 1 p.m. Sept. 27 at Rancho Del Rey Golf Course, 5250 Green Sands Ave. Check-in time is 11:30 a.m. with lunch available at noon. There will be a raffle, team prizes and closest-to-the-hole prizes. Cost is $75 and includes green fees, cart and lunch. Proceeds will benefit the Children’s Tumor Foundation. Old cellphones sought
The Merced County Area Agency on Aging is requesting the donation of unneeded cellphones for distribution to seniors age 60 and older. Seniors will be able to call 911 for emergency assistance only with these phones. They should have a charging unit and a battery that will hold a charge. For more information, call (209) 385-7550.
