The Merced volleyball team rallied from a two-game deficit to defeat Buhach Colony 20-25, 16-25, 25-23, 26-24, 15-10 on Wednesday night at the Thunder Dome.
Rheanne Lewis led the way for the Bears (2-4 Central California Conference) with 13 kills. Setter Erika Beaudry added 39 assists and three aces.
“Really our girls found their heart, desire and fight to get the win,” said Merced coach Marcia-Marie Rosson. “They turned to each other instead of turning their back on each other.”
Merced middle blocker Kaley Hitt got off to a good start with eight blocks, before leaving with a thumb injury midway through the third game. Katie Meller filled in and finished with four blocks and Jordan Pierce played well on the outside.
Sarah Clarot led the way for Buhach Colony (0-6 CCC) with 12 kills.

, at Golden Valley – The Cougars took over sole possession of second place in the CCC with a 25-10, 25-23, 25-27, 25-18 win.
Belen Castillo paced the Cougars (4-2 CCC) with 21 kills, five blocks and seven aces. Camille Flores added 29 assists and eight kills.

, at Turlock – Hannah van Warmerdam had a team-high 11 kills and Brittany Massa added 18 digs for the Falcons (8-10, 3-3 CCC) in a 25-19, 25-11, 25-5 loss.
Men’s Water Polo
Merced College 7, De Anza 6, at Cupertino – Goalkeeper Garhett Bauer stopped six shots in the second half as the Blue Devils squeaked out a win. Bauer finished with 10 saves for Merced College (9-6, 1-0 Coast Conference).
