Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento, and Sutter Tracy Community Hospital are among the nation’s “100 Top Hospitals” in the latest annual study released by Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Truven Health Analytics.
Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento, made the 2015 list among top teaching hospitals, and the Sutter hospital in Tracy was listed among small community hospitals. Both are run by Sacramento-based Sutter Health.
SMCS also received Truven’s “Everest Award,” given to hospitals “that have achieved both the highest current performance and the fastest long-term improvement over five years.”
The Sacramento hospital was one of only 17 “Everest” winners among the 100, and the only one in California so honored. SMCS has made the list five times, including the past three years in a row.
Truven evaluated U.S. hospitals in nearly a dozen areas of patient care and overall operations. Fourteen California hospitals were on this year’s list.
The study has been conducted annually since 1993.
