The couple who took over the original Fleet Feet Sports in midtown Sacramento last year are buying the Davis franchise of the popular running store, too.
Dusty and Staci Robinson announced the change on their store’s Facebook page Monday.
“We have created a life and a career out of helping others improve their lives through fitness and we can’t wait to expand on that in Davis,” they wrote.
Chris and J.D. Denton, the longtime owners of Fleet Feet Davis, said on their website they are retiring and that the Robinsons will began operating the store Sept. 1.
“They are Yolo County residents, dedicated runners, and parents of three young sons, who bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, and passion to Fleet Feet,” the Dentons wrote.
The store has operated for 38 years in downtown Davis.
The midtown Sacramento store on J Street is the flagship location of the 170-store Fleet Feet franchise, which is now based in North Carolina but was founded in midtown Sacramento 40 years ago by runner and triathlete Sally Edwards and childhood friend Elizabeth Jansen.
Jan and Pat Sweeney, who owned Fleet Feet Sacramento for 20 years, sold 90 percent of their shares in the midtown location to Dusty Robinson, then the general manager, in October 2016.
