Dave Butler, who has served as CEO of Sacramento Metro Chamber-affiliated NextEd for nine years, will leave that position to become vice president of Advocacy & Management Group Inc., a Sacramento-based firm offering management and lobbying services to statewide professional associations.
The chamber and NextEd made the announcement Monday morning.
NextEd is a not-for-profit organization that works to develop partnerships among business, labor, education, communities and government to foster regional economic goals and enhance the academic performance and career readiness of students in the region.
During Butler’s tenure, NextEd helped acquire more than $40 million in public/private funding to support public education programs in more than 20 school districts in seven Northern California counties. He also was instrumental in the effort that established a new, regional Small Business Development Center in 2014.

Butler, whose last day with NextEd will be June 30, also is leaving his position as executive vice president of the Sacramento Metro Chamber.
Stella Premo has been named interim CEO of NextEd, which said it will conduct a national search for a permanent replacement. Premo joined NextEd in November 2014 as executive director and director of educational programs.
