Angelo and Sofia Tsakopoulos have donated nearly 33 acres of vacant land in Lincoln to Dignity Health, a gift valued at more than $10 million.
San Francisco-based Dignity said it does not have specific plans for the land on the west side of Highway 65 at Twelve Bridges Road but is “actively evaluating the land for development opportunities to help increase access to health care services for residents in Lincoln and the surrounding communities.”
Angelo Tsakopoulos is founder of AKT Development Corp. in Sacramento.
Laurie Harting, senior vice president of operations for Dignity’s greater Sacramento service area, said in a statement: “Angelo and Sofia Tsakopoulos’ family has a longstanding history of generosity and service to Dignity Health and Mercy Foundation, which has positively impacted the health and well-being of our community.”
Angelo Tsakopoulos made a joint donation – with the William Cummings family – of land on which Mercy Hospital of Folsom is now situated. Tsakopoulos also served on the Mercy Foundation board of trustees for 35 years.
Dignity Health encompasses a 20-state health care network of nearly 9,000 physicians, 55,000 employees and more than 380 medical care centers. Its regional hospitals include Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, Mercy Hospital of Folsom, Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael, Methodist Hospital of Sacramento, Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley and Woodland Memorial Hospital.
