Get a free cup of coffee but not enough caffeine to talk as fast as Gilmore Girls on Wednesday at two Sacramento coffee shops.
Today is Happy Gilmoreversary, the 16th anniversary of the Gilmore Girls premiere. The television series that featured a mother and daughter who delivered sage remarks and quips at warp speed is coming back on Netflix.
To mark the return of the series, free coffee is being offered at shops around the country. Temporarily billed as Luke’s Diners, a nod to the show, the coffee shops in Sacramento that are prepared to give away cups of java are Chocolate Fish Coffee, Third and Q streets, and The Trade Coffee & Coworking, 2220 K Street.
The line of about 100 people wound around the corner at The Trade Coffee & Coworking at 7:30 a.m. The line was also long at Chocolate Fish.
One free cup of coffee per customer is offered by the merchants from 7 a.m. to noon. Coffee cups used as part of the promotion are said to feature quotes from the first seven seasons and from the new Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, which starts Nov. 25 on Netflix.
The first seven seasons of Gilmore Girls are available on Netflix for viewing.
