Except for a thunderstorm and some pea-size hail around Folsom, no measurable rainfall had been been reported in the Sacramento area as of early Friday evening and little if any precipitation is forecast for Saturday.
The Folsom area received 0.16 inch of rain between about 5 and 6 p.m., said Craig Shoemaker, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
Most of the storm activity in the Sacramento Valley occurred in Butte and Glenn counties, and that system was moving southeast into foothills and the Sierra, Shoemaker said. A burst of snow over the Interstate 80 corridor above Auburn was expected about 8 p.m., with the possibility for 1 to 3 inches of snow above the 5,000-foot elevation, he said.
Snow showers are forecast for the Sierra on Saturday, with the possibility for 4 to 8 inches of snow about 5,500 feet. A winter weather advisory is in effect until 5 p.m. Saturday.

Partly cloudy skies and high temperatures in the low 60s are forecast for the Sacramento area on Saturday, with a high of 65 Sunday.
Another system, similar to this one, is expected to move into the area Monday afternoon, but it, too, is likely deliver most of the precipitation over the mountains, Shoemaker said.
