Deadline Friday for commission applications
Application deadline for the vacant Rocklin Planning Commission position is 4 p.m. Friday. Applicants who meet the requirements will be interviewed by the City Council at a special meeting at 5 p.m. Feb. 9. College costs is author’s topic
Sociologist and author Sara Goldrick-Rab will speak about college affordability from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the University Union, Hinde Auditorium, at California State University, Sacramento, 6000 J St. A professor of high education policy at Temple University, Goldrick-Rab will sign her book “Paying the Price: College Costs, Financial Aid, and the Betrayal of the American Dream” The event is free and open to the public.

Paper show in Rancho Cordova
The Gold Rush Paper Show begins a three-day run at the La Quinta Inn, 11131 Folsom Blvd., Rancho Cordova. The event specializes in buying and selling rare and collectible paper, including photographs, documents, ephemera, stamp collections, postal history, postcards, books, California lithography and paintings.
