Spillway meetings scheduled
The state Department of Water Resources is hosting public meetings throughout the region to update communities about the ongoing Oroville Dam spillway recovery effort. An information session is scheduled at 5:30 p.m., a presentation at 6:30 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session in the Sierra Nevada Room of the state Department of Transportation District 3, 703 B St., Marysville. South of Highway 50 work begins
Placerville Road from Highway 50 to White Rock Road is scheduled to be closed for 30 days starting Wednesday, the Folsom Police Department reports. Scott Road will be available as a detour. The work marks the start of an 18-month schedule of infrastructure and road improvements south of Highway 50 in the Folsom Plan Area. This spring and summer, construction activities will include infrastructure and safety improvements such as water, sewer, streets and utilities, according to police. Traffic safety and detour signs have been posted for the upcoming work.
Books celebrated at Fairtyale Town
Children’s Book Week continues at Fairytale Town, 3901 Land Park Drive, Sacramento. There will be story time, activities and giveaways from noon to 1 p.m. through Friday on the Mother Goose Stage. A different book will be featured each day with story time and craft activities inspired by the selected book. Children’s Book Week activities are free with paid park admission.
