The National Weather Service predicts that the next chance of rain could come Wednesday, but don’t count on it.
After dry, seasonal weather today, a low pressure system is expected to move through the region, which may bring some early season snowfall to the Sierra Nevada, valley rain and windy conditions, according to the NWS.
The statistic of the day from the weather service: the record for most days of rain in Sacramento during the month of October is 11, a mark set in 1889. The average days of October rain is three. So far this month: zero.
Forecasters are predicting only one to three inches of snow accumulation above 7,000-feet-elevation. Road temperatures over Donner and Echo summits may be too warm to allow for snow to stick, forecasters note.
After this weak, quick-moving system moves through, look for Thursday through Monday to be sunny.
