Whatever happened to the Hydrogen Highway?

The Hydrogen Highway, highly touted during the administration of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, advanced the concept of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles filling up at carefully spaced hydrogen fueling stations up throughout California. The concept all but fell off the radar as automakers churned out plug-ins, electrics and various hybrids not utilizing hydrogen. However, recent measures by lawmakers, automakers and private parties have put hydrogen fuel cell vehicles/filling stations back in the news.
