Details: Letter carriers Bruce Flanigan, Michael Martin, Jerry Craig, Te Nguyen, Stephen Sager, Bob Bundy and Douglas McDowell earned membership in the National Safety Council’s “Million Mile Club.” The safety council says it takes about 30 years to accumulate a million miles. A common driving trait of the letter carriers is anticipating the actions of other drivers.

Accomplishment: Recognized by the California Milk Processor Board for exemplary community service
Details: The two organizations are among 20 honored statewide with $1,000 each. Runnin’ for Rhett funds scholarships and physical fitness training at Sacramento-area schools. Senior Gleaners distributes millions of pounds of food to people annually in Northern California.

Accomplishment: Lifetime Visionary Achievement honor
Details: Coomes, an attorney in the Best Best & Krieger law practice, was honored by the Urban Land Institute’s Sacramento District Council. The ULI said Coomes is known for his knowledge, effectiveness and honesty in public-private partnership negotiations.
