A slight chance of showers is forecast for far Northern California Friday night, but otherwise fair and dry conditions with warmer-than-normal temperatures are predicted through Christmas.
The blustery conditions of Thursday are gone, replaced Friday by much calmer winds, perhaps 10 mph in the Sacramento region.
The National Weather Service released preliminary high wind speed readings from airports throughout the region Thursday night: Redding, 44 mph, Red Bluff, 44, Sacramento International, 43, Sacramento Executive, 42, Travis, 46, and Stockton, 33 mph.
Other preliminary measurements included Yuba City, 40, Sacramento, 32, Lodi, 31, Roseville, 34, Placerville, 33, Blue Canyon, 35, and Donner Pass, 47 mph.
Only .38 of an inch of rain has fallen in Sacramento in December, which is usually a pretty wet month. Normal December rainfall in Sacramento is 2.76 inches.
