Gallery hosts Kwanzaa celebration Friday
The public is invited to a Kwanzaa celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Brickhouse Art Gallery, 2837 36th St. in Oak Park. The Kwanzaa Gala features African drumming, poetry, music, candle-lighting ceremonies and a panel discussion. Participants are asked to bring a dish for the k aramu, or feast, and new caps, scarves and gloves for homeless infants, children, women and men. The event is sponsored by the Sacramento Area Black Caucus, the Black United Fund of Sacramento Valley and the Brickhouse Art Gallery.
SMUD’s ‘Beliefs’ exhibit features 13 artists
“Beliefs,” the SMUD Art Gallery’s ongoing exhibit of works by 13 Sacramento area artists, is open free of charge to the public from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday in SMUD’s customer service lobby, 6301 S St. in Sacramento. The artworks explore belief systems, the focus of an awareness program by the utility to expose its employees to the beliefs of their colleagues and the community they serve.
