A radar outage in Southern California that prompted Los Angeles International Airport to halt takeoffs this afternoon has affected some flights in and out of Sacramento.

Laurie Slothower, a spokeswoman for Sacramento International Airport, said two Southwest Airlines flights that had departed Sacramento for Southern California destinations returned to the gate, as did another flight that had left Sacramento for LAX.

An American Airlines flight from Eugene, Ore., to Los Angeles and an Alaska Airlines flight from Portland to LAX were diverted to Sacramento International Airport.

“As with any major incident, we advise passengers to contact their airlines for the latest information,” Slothower said.
