The state Department of Transportation has announced the immediate, two-month closure of Interstate 80's on and off ramps at Rollins Lake Road and Magra Road.

The ramps, which are near Colfax in Placer County, closed Aug. 1 and will remain closed until Oct. 1 for structural work. The site is approximately midway between Roseville and Truckee.

Caltrans advises motorists to use the Secret Town interchange as an alternate route.

Caltrans plans to begin its $36-million “Raise80” project soon, beginning with the Magra overpass. Officials said in a news release that they will announce Wednesday when the overnight lifting of the Magra structure will occur. During the lift process, all I-80 traffic will be detoured onto the Highway 20/49 corridor, a 56-mile route.

The "Raise80" project will increase the vertical clearance of nine overpasses on I-80 between Magra and Loomis.

Six of the structures will have the bridge deck raised approximately two feet, and three will have the roadway below lowered to achieve the necessary clearance.

When complete, all the structures will meet current federal clearance standards for high-profile vehicles and national defense, officials said.
