Good morning. Here’s what you need to know today:
Fittingly fall: The weekend weather looks very nice with temperatures expected to reach 77 today with light winds. That’s perfect weather for a trip to Apple Hill, although weekend crowds can be heavier than a lug of Granny Smiths.
Contributions roll in: The campaign committees supporting and opposing Measure L on the November ballot have raised a combined total of just over $1 million, according to the most recent campaign finance reports filed with the City Clerk’s office.
Arena clears hurdle: In a victory for city officials and the Sacramento Kings, a judge Friday rejected a pair of environmental lawsuits filed by foes of the team’s new downtown arena. The ruling by Sacramento Superior Court Judge Timothy Frawley clears away much of the lingering uncertainty over the $477 million arena project, which got underway in August. However, an appeal would keep the environmental issues alive at least a while longer.
Never miss a local story.
Farm to court: Speaking of the new arena, the Kings selected Legends Hospitality to operate its food and beverage service and hired LowBrau’s Michael Tuohy as executive chef.
King candidate: Andy Wu of Bella Vista High School is leading student government and nominated for homecoming king despite being paralyzed from the chest down after a diving accident in Folsom Lake.
Hot salsa: Dance to the music of salsa, rumba, cha cha, samba, mambo and more at the Latin Dance Party at 7 p.m. today at the Capital Dance Center, 11270 Sanders Drive, Rancho Cordova.
