A man was shot in front of his house in south Sacramento Thursday morning.
Sacramento police said the shooting occurred at 9:02 a.m. in the 2300 block of 52nd Avenue. The male victim, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital, according to Officer Justin Brown, a police spokesman.
James Beacham said he was the uncle of the victim, identified as Chris Merical. Beacham said Merical was walking out of the home into his car, when two unknown assailants came up from behind and shot him.
“They must have been waiting for him,” Beacham said, adding that he had no idea why his nephew was targeted. “He wasn’t in any gangs.”

Beacham said Merical’s sister drove him to the hospital.
