Special meeting in Placerville
The El Dorado County Board of Education will hold a special meeting to discuss the criteria and procedures to fill the vacant superintendent of schools post. Jeremy Meyers resigned last week, 11 days after his second arrest on suspicion of drunken driving. The meeting is set for 8:30 a.m. at the El Dorado County Office of Education, Conference Room B-2, 6767 Green Valley Road, Placerville.

Thanksgiving food for families in need
The Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services on Monday will distribute turkeys and side dishes to families in need from 8 a.m. until around noon at 3333 Third Ave., Sacramento (near 34th Street and Broadway in Oak Park). Families are encouraged to arrive no sooner than 7 a.m. and to bring an ID or proof of address to receive one numbered ticket per household. Distributions will continue until all donated turkeys are handed out. Recipients are encouraged to bring a cart or tote bag to carry the food items and to bring portable seating for those unable to stand for an extended period. Pigskin Peanuts Holiday Camp
The three-day Pigskin Peanuts Holiday Camp opens Monday at the California Museum, 1020 O St. in Sacramento, with a mix of education activities and hallmarks of the cartoon world created by Charles M.
