Suspects in 6-year-old’s death return to court
Juan Rivera, held on suspicion of murder in the death of 6-year-old Jadianna Larsen in May, and Rivera’s mother, Lisa Burton, who is accused of covering up the crime, return Friday to Sacramento Superior Court.

Surplus property to be auctioned
The California Department of General Services is hosting its quarterly surplus property auction featuring hundreds of items, including jewelry, office furniture, computers and bicycles at 10 a.m. Saturday. Tree-lighting ceremony in West Sacramento
The West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce and the city of West Sacramento present the annual Community Tree Lighting Celebration from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in front of City Hall, 1110 W. Capitol Ave. The public is invited to join the celebration, featuring free refreshments and performances by local youth choirs. Mayor Christopher Cabaldon will light the tree about 6:30 p.m.
