A United Parcel Service employee died of injuries suffered in a company yard in West Sacramento on Thursday night when he was struck by a UPS big rig, according to police.
Exactly how the 47-year-old pedestrian’s death occurred will be investigated by West Sacramento police and Cal-OSHA. Sgt. Roger Kinney said Friday that the man was struck and pinned down about 9 p.m. Thursday at the UPS Customer Center, Harbor Boulevard and Shore Street.
Fire Department medical personnel responded and the still-unidentified man was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The truck driver and company officials were cooperating with investigators, Kinney said.
