Chavez march begins at Southside Park

Union Civica Primero de Mayo joins labor groups, community organizations, students, teachers, clubs and the general public in celebrating Cesar Chavez’s birthday during the 16th annual Cesar Chavez March. The event starts at 10 a.m. at Southside Park, corner of Eighth and T streets, Sacramento, and follows with a noon program at the state Capitol.
Impact Conference at CRC
The 2016 Impact Conference, presented by MLK365, is for volunteers serious about applying the principles of Martin Luther King Jr. to address modern social problems. The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cosumnes River College, 8401 Center Parkway, Sacramento. Neighborhood cleanup in Rancho Cordova
The city of Rancho Cordova and community volunteers are hosting the third of three Neighborhood Clean-Ups in the White Rock community. Crews will pick up trash and e-waste for free from 9 a.m. to noon. Neighbors and volunteers are then invited to a free community barbecue from noon to 1 p.m. at White Rock Neighborhood Park, 10488 White Rock Road, Rancho Cordova.
