State hosts surplus auction
The state Department of General Services is holding its quarterly surplus property auction at 10 a.m. at its warehouse at 1700 National Drive in the North Natomas area of Sacramento. Items include computers and office furniture from state agencies, as well as property seized by the California Highway Patrol and confiscated by the national Transportation Security Administration. Horses, mules for sale
The 24th annual horse Production Sale at UC Davis will benefit the Animal Science Department’s equine management program. The free event is scheduled from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the university’s Animal Science Horse Barn, 448 La Rue Road. Featured will be a preview of the foals and a barbecue dinner (available for purchase), then the auction. DUI checkpoint on Folsom Boulevard
The Sacramento Police Department will be conducting a sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint on Folsom Boulevard near Hornet Drive. The checkpoint begins at 7:30 p.m. and will last five to seven hours. Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment and checking drivers for proper licensing.
Open house at Fire Station 8
Station 8 of the Sacramento Fire Department will host a free open house for residents from 2 to 4 p.m. at 5990 H St. in East Sacramento. Visitors can meet firefighters and medics, tour the station and take a close look at the trucks, engines, ambulances, equipment and gear. The event is part of the Fire Station Open House series.
