The site of the new Sacramento Kings arena will “go vertical” early Wednesday.
Four months after breaking ground, the Kings announced Tuesday that the first vertical steel beam is scheduled to be installed at around 8:30 a.m. at the arena site at Downtown Plaza.
Technically, the arena itself isn’t going vertical yet. The first beam is being installed at what will become the team’s practice facility, immediately adjacent to the arena.
Putting in steel represents a milestone for the $477 million project, and Kings President Chris Granger will be on hand to speak to the media. The event is closed to the general public.
