A new arena planned at Downtown Plaza will not cause major traffic jams in the downtown area -- with one big exception: the I-5 ramp at J Street.
All but a handful of the downtown intersections studied by the city will see traffic delay increases of less than five seconds compared to what drivers would experience if the Kings continued to play in Natomas, according to a newly-released environmental impact study commissioned by the city and the Sacramento Kings.
But the I-5 off ramp at 3rd & J streets will see traffic delays increase by about 12 minutes, creating a logjam that will likely impact many who aren't even on their way to the game.
These maps shows the estimated traffic impacts of the new arena.
